I love living near people and activity. But I also love getting away from the concrete and noise, and being in nature.
This weekend, we went to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. The weather was perfect, a little on the cool side but not too cool. I took quite a few pictures with my android phone, and wished that I had a nice camera with a powerful lens. Most of my pictures are from too far away, but this bittern posed nicely for me on the side of the road:
There were coots, and egrets, cormorants, hawks and the great blue heron, which was very good at evading photography. The most amazing sight was the snow geese swarming, and I was able to capture that on this video. The music is on the video because my alarm went off while I was filming!
I love the way the music went with the movement of the swarm. It seemed like a dance.

Amazing birds and what a migration. Have you read “The Snow Geese” by William Fiennes ?
